To offer you a quick look at the greeting card designs that were delivered just yesterday (woohoo!), I’m posting a few pages from my catalog, so you can see the kind of stuff I’ve been up to! I’m currently working on a new design for this site, complete with an online store, so soon you will be able to see all the designs in living color! Click the images below to see them larger. Note: the colors won’t be quite as neon in print. Enjoy!

While I’ve been focusing most of my energies on my greeting card lines, I was delighted and privileged to be able to provide illustrations for an article published by Words of Peace Global.org, a site promoting Prem Rawat’s message of inner peace. His message has made a huge, indescribable impact in my life, and it was a fantastic experience for me to use a talent that I have and love to help in this effort. You can click here to view the article online, or you can click here to download the article and see the other articles available.

As I’m getting all my designs ready for print, I’ve completed a greeting card for Gordon Durich, a local writer. Having grown up in Australia, he wanted a design with an Australian flavor. And while I’m not much of an Ozzie I gave it a shot – and here it is!

And here it is… my interpretation of the hummingbird for my card line! Now it’s time to hit the bricks! Wish me luck!

This was a drawing I created specifically for my friend Carolyn’s birthday. She took the hummingbird as her symbol for her birthday, one of its meanings being “to move forward in life with joy.” I liked that, so I drew this bird for her and made a one-off card for her birthday. I will use the general design for a different card, but this one is especially hers and will not be reprinted. Happy birthday Carolyn!

Here is a new illustration from a line that I am creating for greeting cards. They will be in similar style to this and my Peace illustration – this is the second to be completed. I also have a line of cartoons intended for cards that you can view here. Enjoy!

I have been trying to create a good image for my business card for almost nine months now – so it looks like it arrived just in time! I’d been toying with a few of these elements for quite some time, and then all of a sudden, just in time for a trade show next week, poof! It appeared! So you will likely be seeing more of these guys in the future!

Announcing my first greeting card, for the New Year! In the spirit of finding as much humor as possible in the current situation, I offer the above visual interpretation, now available in a convenient greeting card form for easy distribution amongst those you might want to hand a laugh to! These are actual physical greeting cards, that you put stamps on and everything – remember those?? I am offering them for $1.20 each.
If you are interested in ordering some cards for your personal use, please contact me at hmw@itsavisual.com. And a wonderful, happy 2009 to everyone!

I like this drawing even though it looks similar to a few other works I have seen. It’s the first draft of an idea that I need to do a lot more work on, but I still like the way this turned out!
It also occurs to me that people might feel this way during the holidays – too much to do!

Just when you thought it was safe… there are always strings attached when you have pets. This is my first submission to IF for about a year and a half! It’s good to be back, and I hope I can manage to keep it up regularly, if not every week. Has anyone ever been on the receiving end of that “locked-on-prey” look that cats get? It’s pretty freaky!
